Be ready when January opens.
Two free sessions on running a job search that actually moves.
Why December
January is the biggest hiring month of the year. New budgets open up, companies post everything they've been sitting on, and recruiters come back from the holidays with a list.
The trouble is everybody knows that. A flood of applications hits in the same week the flood of jobs opens, and the two cancel each other out.
The people who land in January mostly started in October or November. By the time the job gets posted, they're already somebody the hiring manager had in mind.
What we'll cover
Where and how to search
Including LinkedIn, and how to prioritize so the hours go where they matter.
Targeting and your resume
You can't write a resume until you know who it's for. Most people do it in the other order.
Networking
The part people skip, and the part that tends to decide when you land.
Offer negotiation
How to handle the offer when it comes, so you don't leave money or terms on the table.
Who should come
- Somebody fresh out of school who doesn't know what they don't know yet.
- Somebody who hasn't looked for a job in fifteen or twenty years and is finding out the whole process changed.
- Somebody who knows they want something different but can't quite name what.
You don't have to be at any particular point in your career. If you're staring at your resume wondering what it's even supposed to look like now, that's the room.
Your host
Brett Coakley spent twenty years running operations and programs at Motorola Mobility (Google), Fitbit, NuVasive, and Blue Apron — the person brought in to make complicated things actually ship.
For the last several years he has coached leaders full time, in Raleigh, and run the job searches that get them where they're going. This seminar is the short version of that work, free and in one room.
